Alain Mabanckou est un auteur célèbre originaire du Congo-Brazzaville, né le 24 février 1966 à Pointe-Noire. Il est considéré comme l'une des figures majeures de la littérature francophone contemporaine. Élevé dans un milieu modeste, Alain Mabanckou se passionne très tôt pour la lecture et l'écriture. À l'âge de six ans, il lit Le Compère général Soleil, un conte de la tradition orale congolaise, qui marquera ses débuts dans le monde des mots. Après des études de droit à Brazzaville, il part en France poursuivre ses études. Il obtient un doctorat en lettres modernes à l'Université Paris VII-Denis Diderot. Installé à Paris, Alain Mabanckou enseigne la littérature francophone à l'Université de Californie à Los Angeles (UCLA). Il occupe également des fonctions de professeur invité dans de prestigieuses universités comme Harvard et Michigan. En parallèle de ses activités universitaires, Alain Mabanckou se consacre entièrement à l'écriture. Il publie en 1998 son premier roman, Bleu-Blanc-Rouge, qui lui vaut une reconnaissance immédiate. Ce roman marque le début d'une longue et fructueuse carrière littéraire, marquée par une quarantaine d'ouvrages, dont certains ont été traduits dans une vingtaine de langues. Parmi ses romans les plus célèbres, citons Verre cassé (2005), Mémoires de porc-épic (2006) et Petit Piment (2014), dans lesquels il explore les thèmes de l'identité, de l'exil et de la société africaine contemporaine. Alain Mabanckou est un écrivain engagé, défendant à travers son écriture les valeurs de liberté et de justice sociale. Il reçoit de nombreuses distinctions, dont le prix Goncourt des lycéens en 2006 pour son roman Mémoires de porc-épic. Il est également élu à l'Académie française en 2013, devenant ainsi le premier écrivain originaire d'Afrique subsaharienne à rejoindre cette institution prestigieuse. En plus de sa carrière d'écrivain, Alain Mabanckou est un fin connaisseur de la littérature et de la culture africaines. Il participe régulièrement à des conférences et à des débats littéraires, et contribue à la promotion de la culture africaine à travers ses interventions médiatiques.
