Albert de Brandebourg, également connu sous le nom d'Albert III, fut une figure emblématique de la noblesse allemande au XVe siècle. Né le 30 novembre 1414 à Tangermünde, dans le Margraviat de Brandebourg, il était le fils cadet de l'électeur de Brandebourg, Frédéric Ier de Hohenzollern, et de sa femme, Élisabeth de Bavière-Landshut. Dès son plus jeune âge, Albert fut destiné à une carrière ecclésiastique. Il fut éduqué par des précepteurs et reçut une solide formation en théologie. À l'âge de quinze ans, il fut nommé évêque de Brandebourg, marqueur de son destin ecclésiastique. En 1447, Albert parvint à devenir archevêque de Magdebourg, grâce à son habileté politique et à ses alliances stratégiques. Il fonda également l'université de Francfort-sur-l'Oder, qui devint un centre intellectuel important de l'époque. Au-delà de ses réalisations politiques et culturelles, Albert était également un homme de foi profondément dévoué. Il fut un fervent partenaire de la réforme catholique du XVe siècle et œuvra pour la consolidation des principes religieux dans son électorat. Albert de Brandebourg mourut le 11 mars 1486 à Francfort-sur-l'Oder, laissant derrière lui un héritage important pour la région de Brandebourg. Grâce à ses actions audacieuses et à sa vision politique, il parvint à transformer son électorat en un allié puissant et prospère pour l'Empire allemand. Sa mémoire reste vivante aujourd'hui encore.
