Albert Libertad, de son vrai nom Albert Bloch, est une figure emblématique du mouvement anarchiste français du début du XXe siècle. Né le 20 novembre 1875 à Bordeaux, il grandit dans une famille juive de la petite bourgeoisie. Dès son jeune âge, il exprime un intérêt marqué pour les idées sociales et politiques. Il rejoint le mouvement ouvrier et devient rapidement un ardent défenseur des droits des travailleurs. Durant sa vie d'activiste, Albert Libertad s'engage dans plusieurs luttes, notamment au sein du syndicat des Imprimeries de Paris, où il exerce comme typographe. Ses convictions politiques l'amènent à se radicaliser et il devient un fervent partisan de l'anarchisme. Il devient un habitué des milieux libertaires parisiens, côtoyant de nombreuses personnalités influentes de l'époque. Sa notoriété grandit en 1905 lorsqu'il fonde le célèbre journal anarchiste "L'Anarchie", qui devient rapidement un véritable outil de propagande pour le mouvement. Libertad y défend l'action directe et la propagande par le fait, prônant la révolte individuelle et la lutte contre toutes les formes d'autorité. Son engagement politique lui vaut de nombreuses arrestations et emprisonnements. Il est notamment condamné à deux ans de prison suite à une tentative de vol à main armée pour financer la propagande anarchiste. Ses écrits, jugés subversifs par les autorités, lui attirent également des problèmes avec la justice. Cependant, même derrière les barreaux, Albert Libertad continue de militer et d'écrire, devenant ainsi une figure emblématique pour de nombreux anarchistes. En 1911, il publie son œuvre majeure, "L'Anarchie et les Anarchistes", dans laquelle il critique avec finesse et vigueur les fondements de la société capitaliste et de l'État. Cet ouvrage, qui devient un classique de la pensée anarchiste, inspire de nombreux militants à travers le monde. Albert Libertad décède tragiquement le 12 novembre 1908, à l'âge de 32 ans seulement, des suites d'une tuberculose contractée pendant ses années de prison. Sa mort soudaine plonge le mouvement anarchiste dans une profonde tristesse, mais son héritage reste vivant aujourd'hui encore. Bénéficiant d'une aura de martyr, Albert Libertad est considéré comme l'un des plus grands penseurs et militants de l'anarchisme français, incarnant la lutte pour la justice sociale, la liberté individuelle et la révolte contre l'oppression.
