Anthony Calvillo is a retired professional Canadian Football League (CFL) quarterback who is widely regarded as one of the greatest quarterbacks in CFL history. He was born on August 23, 1972, in Los Angeles, California, and began his CFL career in 1994 with the Las Vegas Posse before joining the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 1994. Calvillo then found his home with the Montreal Alouettes in 1998, where he would spend the majority of his career, leading the team to three Grey Cup championships in 2002, 2009, and 2010. Throughout his impressive career, Calvillo set numerous CFL records, including most passing yards, completions, and touchdowns. He was a seven-time CFL All-Star and won three CFL Most Outstanding Player awards. Despite facing setbacks, such as a battle with cancer in 2010, Calvillo continued to excel on the field and retired in 2014 as the all-time leader in passing yards with 79,816. After his retirement, Calvillo transitioned into coaching, serving as an assistant coach with the Alouettes before becoming the quarterbacks coach for the Toronto Argonauts.
