Anthony Woodward Ivins, né le 16 septembre 1852 à Toms River, dans le New Jersey, est une personnalité majeure de l'Église de Jésus-Christ des Saints des Derniers Jours et une figure influente de l'histoire de l'Utah. Issu d'une famille dévouée à la foi mormone, Ivins reçoit une éducation religieuse rigoureuse dès son plus jeune âge. Au cours de son adolescence, il déménage dans l'Illinois puis dans l'Utah, où il s'installe à St. George en 1864 avec sa famille. Ivins devient rapidement un membre actif de la communauté mormone, gravissant les échelons au fil des ans. Il sert comme délégué de l'Utah à la convention constitutionnelle de l'État, contribuant à la rédaction de la constitution de l'Utah en 1895. En tant que sénateur de l'Utah, il joue un rôle crucial dans l'adoption de lois visant à promouvoir le développement économique et social de l'État.
