Antonin Magne, né le 15 février 1904 à Ytrac en France, fut l'une des plus grandes célébrités françaises dans le domaine du cyclisme. Enfant, il était fasciné par les deux roues et passait des heures à expérimenter de nouvelles astuces sur son vieux vélo en bois. À l'âge de 12 ans, il participa à sa première course locale et montra un talent exceptionnel. Sa carrière professionnelle commença en 1927, lorsqu'il intégra l'équipe Peugeot. Rapidement, Antonin Magne devint un cycliste incontournable, remportant de nombreux titres à travers le pays. En 1931, il décrocha sa première grande victoire en devenant champion de France sur route. Mais c'est lors du Tour de France que sa renommée atteignit son apogée. Antonin Magne participa au Tour à huit reprises, et remporta l'épreuve à deux reprises, en 1931 et 1934. Sa première victoire fut particulièrement marquante, car il devint le premier Français depuis 1925 à gagner cette prestigieuse compétition. Grâce à ses performances exceptionnelles, Magne se fit un nom au sein du peloton international et devint une véritable icône du sport français. Outre ses victoires sur le Tour, Antonin Magne fut également un coureur polyvalent, excellant en contre-la-montre. Il remporta ainsi deux titres consécutifs de champion du monde de la spécialité, en 1936 et 1937. Ces succès lui valurent une reconnaissance mondiale et de nombreux admirateurs à travers le globe. Pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, Antonin Magne fut mobilisé dans l'armée française. Bien qu'il ne puisse plus participer à des compétitions cyclistes, il utilisa ses compétences de cycliste pour effectuer des missions de reconnaissance à vélo. Après la guerre, il décida de mettre un terme à sa carrière professionnelle et se retira de la compétition en 1948. Antonin Magne resta actif dans le monde du cyclisme en tant que directeur sportif et entraîneur. Il fut notamment à la tête de l'équipe nationale française lors des Jeux Olympiques de 1964 à Tokyo, où il contribua à la victoire de son pays dans l'épreuve sur route. Antonin Magne décéda le 8 septembre 1983, laissant derrière lui un héritage exceptionnel dans le monde du cyclisme. Considéré comme l'un des plus grands coureurs français de tous les temps, il fut un modèle de ténacité, de professionnalisme et de passion pour le sport.
