Charles Eugene Delaunay, également connu sous le nom de Charles Delaunay, est l'une des figures les plus influentes de la scène musicale française du XXe siècle. Né le 21 février 1911 à Nîmes, en France, Delaunay était un compositeur, critique de musique, producteur de disques et fondateur de la célèbre maison de disques "Les disques Polydor". Dès son plus jeune âge, Delaunay a montré un intérêt pour la musique. Il a étudié le piano au Conservatoire de Paris avant de se passionner pour la composition. En 1936, il a remporté le prestigieux Prix de Rome, affirmant ainsi son talent et sa place dans le monde de la musique classique. Grâce à cette distinction, il a pu se consacrer pleinement à sa passion et a commencé à établir son nom en tant que compositeur. Pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, Delaunay a dû interrompre sa carrière musicale en raison de ses engagements politiques. Il a rejoint la Résistance française et a joué un rôle actif dans la lutte contre l'occupation nazie. Après la guerre, il a repris ses activités musicales et a fondé la maison de disques "Les disques Polydor" en 1948. Grâce à son instinct visionnaire, il a créé un catalogue varié et a pu attirer certains des plus grands artistes et compositeurs de l'époque. En tant que critique de musique, Delaunay a été un fervent défenseur de la musique contemporaine et a contribué à promouvoir de nouveaux talents. Ses écrits et ses critiques ont été très influents dans le milieu musical et lui ont valu une reconnaissance internationale. Il a également été membre du jury de nombreux concours de musique prestigieux et a participé à des conférences et des débats sur la musique. Il a été membre de l'Académie des Beaux-Arts et a contribué à la préservation et à la promotion du patrimoine musical français. Charles Eugene Delaunay est décédé le 16 février 1978, laissant derrière lui un héritage musical immense et une contribution significative à la musique française.
