Le chevalier de Saint-Georges, également connu sous le nom de Joseph Bologne, était une figure emblématique du 18e siècle. Né le 25 décembre 1745 à Baillif, en Guadeloupe, il était le fils d'une esclave africaine et d'un noble français. Dès son plus jeune âge, il fut initié à la musique par son père, et montra un talent exceptionnel pour le violon et l'escrime. À l'âge de treize ans, Saint-Georges est envoyé à Paris pour poursuivre ses études. Malgré son talent et ses réussites, le chevalier de Saint-Georges a également fait face à de nombreux obstacles. En tant qu'homme noir vivant dans une société profondément raciste, il a été victime de discrimination et de racisme tout au long de sa vie. Cela ne l'a pas empêché de défendre ses droits et de poursuivre sa passion. Saint-Georges est décédé le 10 juin 1799 à Paris, laissant derrière lui un héritage incroyable. Au-delà de sa virtuosité musicale et de ses prouesses en matière d'escrime, il a été un pionnier dans la lutte pour l'égalité des droits et un symbole de fierté pour les personnes de couleur. Son courage et sa détermination ont inspiré de nombreux artistes et activistes au cours des siècles suivants.
