Claude Chabrol, né le 24 juin 1930 à Paris, est l'un des réalisateurs français les plus renommés de sa génération. Issu d'une famille bourgeoise, il se tourne très tôt vers le cinéma, une passion qui le mènera à une carrière exceptionnelle. Chabrol débute dans l'univers du cinéma en tant que critique de films dès les années 1950. Il collabore notamment avec la célèbre revue "Les Cahiers du cinéma" aux côtés de François Truffaut, Jean-Luc Godard et Eric Rohmer, qui deviendront plus tard les figures majeures de la Nouvelle Vague. Cette expérience critique lui permet d'acquérir une connaissance approfondie du cinéma, lui offrant ainsi les bases nécessaires pour devenir réalisateur. Son premier film, "Le Beau Serge", sort en 1958 et est salué par la critique. Chabrol collabore également avec des acteurs de renom tels que Stéphane Audran, sa muse et épouse à l'écran, Jean Yanne, Michel Bouquet ou encore Isabelle Huppert. Au-delà de la Nouvelle Vague, Chabrol revendique son propre style, en explorant sans cesse les thèmes qui lui sont chers. Il aborde les tensions sociales, la psychologie humaine, les jeux de pouvoir et les conflits moraux qui jalonnent notre existence.
