Claude Laydu, de son vrai nom Claude Laydu de la Ramée, était un acteur français né le 10 mars 1927 à Bruxelles, en Belgique, et décédé le 29 juillet 2011 à Paris. Il est principalement connu pour son rôle du jeune prêtre dans le film "Journal d'un curé de campagne" réalisé par Robert Bresson en 1951. Né dans une famille d'origine française, Claude Laydu développe dès son plus jeune âge une passion pour le théâtre et décide de faire de l'art dramatique son métier. Après des études à l'École d'art dramatique de Paris, il fait ses débuts au théâtre en jouant des petits rôles dans des pièces classiques. Sa carrière prend une autre dimension lorsqu'il est repéré par Robert Bresson qui cherche un acteur pour incarner le personnage central de son prochain film. "Journal d'un curé de campagne" est une adaptation du roman éponyme de Georges Bernanos racontant l'histoire d'un jeune prêtre idéaliste, luttant contre l'indifférence et l'hostilité de ses paroissiens. L'interprétation de Claude Laydu est saluée par la critique et incarne parfaitement la complexité du personnage. Ce rôle lui vaut d'ailleurs le prix d'interprétation masculine au Festival de Cannes en 1951. Il enchaîne les rôles au théâtre et joue dans de nombreuses pièces classiques comme "Hamlet" de William Shakespeare ou "Le Misanthrope" de Molière. Il est également amené à collaborer avec d'autres réalisateurs, mais aucun film ne connaitra le succès du "Journal d'un curé de campagne". Claude Laydu continue sa carrière d'acteur jusqu'à la fin de sa vie, alternant entre théâtre et cinéma. Il participe également à des séries télévisées notamment dans les années 70 et 80. Son talent et son jeu subtil lui valent le respect de ses pairs ainsi qu'une place de choix dans l'histoire du cinéma français. Claude Laydu est décédé à l'âge de 84 ans à Paris, laissant derrière lui une filmographie courte mais marquante. Sa performance dans "Journal d'un curé de campagne" restera à jamais gravée dans les mémoires et son interprétation du jeune prêtre restera un modèle de justesse et de sensibilité.
