Claude Mesplède est une figure incontournable de la littérature policière en France. Né le 27 avril 1951, il a consacré une grande partie de sa vie à l'étude et à la promotion du genre. Passionné par les romans noirs et les intrigues captivantes dès son plus jeune âge, il s'est rapidement spécialisé dans cette littérature particulière, aussi connue sous le nom de roman policier. Dès l'âge de quinze ans, Claude Mesplède commence à constituer une impressionnante collection de livres et de revues consacrés au genre policier. Il dévore les œuvres d'auteurs renommés tels qu'Agatha Christie, Arthur Conan Doyle et Georges Simenon, nourrissant ainsi sa passion pour les histoires de crime et de mystère. Au-delà de son activité d'écrivain, Claude Mesplède s'engage également dans la promotion du genre policier. Il fonde en 1981, avec son ami Jean-Jacques Schléret, la revue "221b", un magazine entièrement dédié aux littératures policières. Cette publication devient rapidement une référence incontournable pour tous les amateurs du genre. En tant qu'éditeur et critique littéraire, Claude Mesplède soutient de nombreux auteurs français et étrangers, contribuant ainsi à l'essor du roman policier en France. En 2003, Claude Mesplède publie "100 ans et plus de romans policiers en France", une encyclopédie qui rassemble les biographies des plus grands auteurs du genre. Ce travail colossal lui permet de démontrer l'importance et la richesse de la littérature policière en France. Son expertise est reconnue par ses pairs et il est régulièrement sollicité pour participer à des conférences et des débats sur le genre policier. Claude Mesplède est également membre de plusieurs jurys littéraires, dont celui du roman noir du festival international de Cognac. Il est récompensé en 2014 du Grand Prix de la Critique du roman noir français pour l'ensemble de son œuvre. Son dévouement et sa passion pour la littérature policière en font une célébrité incontournable du genre, et il continue à ce jour à partager son savoir et à œuvrer pour la reconnaissance des auteurs de romans noirs en France.
