Claude Pompidou, née Claude Jacqueline Cahour le 13 novembre 1912 à Château-Gontier en France, est une personnalité française qui a marqué l'histoire par son engagement social et son rôle en tant que Première dame de France. Dès son jeune âge, elle se passionne pour les arts, la littérature et la musique, ce qui la conduit à étudier à l'École du Louvre et à fréquenter les cercles artistiques parisiens. En 1935, Claude Cahour épouse Georges Pompidou, futur président de la République française, avec qui elle partagera près de quarante ans de vie commune. Durant les années qui suivent, elle soutient son mari dans son parcours politique, notamment lors des mandats de Georges Pompidou en tant que Premier ministre, entre 1962 et 1968, puis en tant que président de la République, de 1969 jusqu'à sa mort en 1974. Grande admiratrice des arts et de la culture, Claude Pompidou s'investit particulièrement dans la valorisation du patrimoine français. Lorsque Georges Pompidou accède à la présidence, elle joue un rôle actif dans la création du Centre national d'art et de culture Georges Pompidou, manifestant ainsi son désir de rendre l'art accessible à tous. Ce projet provocateur, inauguré en 1977, est devenu un symbole architectural majeur de la ville de Paris et abrite l'une des plus importantes collections d'art contemporain au monde. En parallèle, Claude Pompidou œuvre également pour l'action sociale. Elle crée la Fondation Claude Pompidou en 1970, dont la vocation est de soutenir les personnes en situation de vulnérabilité, en particulier les enfants malades ou handicapés. Grâce à son engagement, de nombreux centres médico-sociaux sont créés à travers la France, offrant ainsi des services de qualité aux personnes en besoin. Claude Pompidou restera dans la mémoire collective pour son rôle majeur de Première dame.
