Colette Renard, de son vrai nom Colette Lucie Raget, naît le 1er novembre 1924 à Pont-de-Longuenée, dans le Maine-et-Loire, en France. Elle est issue d'une famille modeste, son père étant cantonnier et sa mère femme de ménage. Très jeune, Colette Renard montre un intérêt pour le spectacle et la musique, et elle commence à prendre des cours de chant et de théâtre dès l'âge de 14 ans. En 1944, elle fait ses débuts sur scène au Théâtre Antoine sous la direction de Jean-Louis Barrault, dans la pièce "Les Fiancés du Havre". Sa performance est remarquée, et elle est rapidement sollicitée pour jouer dans diverses pièces de théâtre, notamment aux côtés de comédiens renommés tels que Michel Simon et Jean Gabin. En parallèle de sa carrière théâtrale, Colette Renard se lance également dans la chanson. Elle enregistre son premier disque en 1950, intitulé "Les Nuits d'une demoiselle", qui connaît un certain succès. Elle se fait rapidement remarquer par ses interprétations sensuelles et énergiques, et devient l'une des grandes voix de la chanson française des années 1950 et 1960. Parmi ses chansons les plus célèbres, on peut citer "Les croix", "Les nuits d'une demoiselle", "Les petits pavés", et bien d'autres. Son style musical, mélangeant habilement jazz, cabaret et chanson réaliste, lui vaut d'être comparée à des artistes telles que Édith Piaf et Juliette Gréco. Au fil des années, Colette Renard partage la scène avec de grands noms de la chanson française, tels que Jacques Brel, Georges Brassens et Charles Aznavour. Elle enregistre de nombreux albums, parmi lesquels "Colette Renard chante Marie-José", "Le chaudronnier de Belleville" ou encore "Colette Renard chante Aragon". En parallèle de sa carrière musicale, Colette Renard mène également une carrière au cinéma. Elle tourne dans une vingtaine de films, notamment "L'Air de paris" de Marcel Carné, "Du rififi chez les hommes" de Jules Dassin, et "Quai des Orfèvres" de Henri-Georges Clouzot. Sa prestation dans le film "French Cancan" de Jean Renoir lui vaudra le César de la meilleure actrice dans un second rôle en 1955. Colette Renard continue à se produire sur scène et à enregistrer de nouveaux albums jusqu'à sa mort le 6 octobre 2010 à Courbevoie. Elle laisse derrière elle un héritage artistique riche et une voix qui aura marqué la chanson française.
