Il est principalement connu pour avoir été membre des groupes The Moody Blues et Wings, aux côtés de Paul McCartney. Né dans une famille modeste, Denny Laine développe un intérêt précoce pour la musique. Il commence à jouer de la guitare dès son adolescence et forme son premier groupe, Denny Laine and the Diplomats, à l'âge de quinze ans. C'est dans ce groupe qu'il rencontre Ray Thomas, avec qui il fondera plus tard The Moody Blues. En 1964, Laine rejoint The Moody Blues en tant que chanteur et guitariste. Avec le groupe, il enregistre plusieurs albums à succès, dont "Days of Future Passed" et "In Search of the Lost Chord".
