Né le 2 mars 1930 à Paris, il débute sa carrière dans les années 1950 en travaillant comme figurant avant de se faire remarquer par des réalisateurs tels que Claude Chabrol, Jean-Pierre Melville et Georges Lautner. C'est en 1954 que Dominique Zardi fait sa première apparition à l'écran dans le film "Les hommes en blanc" de Ralph Habib. Dès lors, il enchaîne les rôles de composition et se forge une solide réputation dans le cinéma français. Il est notamment remarqué pour ses talents d'improvisation et sa capacité à incarner des personnages hauts en couleur, souvent des gangsters ou des voyous au grand cœur. Au fil des années, Dominique Zardi multiplie les collaborations avec des réalisateurs de renom. Il tourne ainsi avec Claude Chabrol dans "Le Beau Serge" (1958) et "Les Bonnes Femmes" (1960), mais également avec Jean-Pierre Melville dans "Le Doulos" (1962) et "Le Cercle rouge" (1970). Avec Georges Lautner, il participe à des films cultes tels que "Les Tontons flingueurs" (1963), où il interprète le personnage de Pascal, l'amoureux transi de la fille du personnage de Lino Ventura. Sa collaboration avec Lautner se poursuit avec "Ne nous fâchons pas" (1966) et "Flic ou Voyou" (1979). Dominique Zardi se fait également remarquer dans le domaine de la télévision, où il joue dans de nombreux téléfilms et séries, comme "Les Enquêtes du commissaire Maigret" ou "Les Cinq Dernières Minutes". Il devient ainsi un visage familier des téléspectateurs français, qui apprécient son jeu nuancé et sa présence à l'écran. Malgré une carrière prolifique, Dominique Zardi reste un acteur discret.
