Stanley began his political career in 1820 when he was elected as a Member of Parliament for Stockbridge, Hampshire. Notably, he played a vital role in charting the path for the abolition of slavery in the British Empire, a cause which he passionately championed. In 1852, Stanley became the leader of the Conservative Party and, shortly after, was appointed as the British Prime Minister. His tenure was characterized by significant political reforms, including the Introduction of the Public Health Act, the organization of the Office of the Commissioner of Works, and the reformation of the National Gallery.
