Jean Tiberi is a French politician who was born on January 30, 1935, in Paris, France. He served as the Mayor of Paris from 1995 to 2001, succeeding Jacques Chirac. Tiberi was a member of the Union for a Popular Movement party and also served as a member of the National Assembly for the Paris's 4th constituency from 1981 to 1993. He began his political career in the early 1960s, serving as a municipal councilor in Paris. Tiberi was known for his involvement in urban planning and development projects in the city, as well as his focus on improving public services and transportation. However, his tenure as Mayor was also marked by several scandals, including corruption charges related to the mismanagement of public funds. In 2005, Tiberi was found guilty of corruption and received a suspended prison sentence. Despite these legal troubles, he remained active in politics and continued to serve as a member of various city councils in Paris.
