Mehmed II, also known as Mehmed the Conqueror, was born on March 30, 1432, in Edirne, Ottoman Empire. He became the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire in 1444, at the young age of 12, following the death of his father, Murad II. Mehmed II is best known for his military prowess and his conquest of Constantinople in 1453, which marked the end of the Byzantine Empire. He was just 21 years old when he achieved this historic victory, earning him the title of "the Conqueror." Mehmed II was a skilled strategist and leader, known for his ambition and determination to expand the Ottoman Empire. He also implemented important administrative and legal reforms during his reign, modernizing the empire's bureaucracy and military. Despite his military success, Mehmed II was also a patron of the arts and culture, commissioning the construction of numerous mosques, palaces, and other architectural marvels. He died on May 3, 1481, leaving behind a legacy as one of the most influential and significant rulers in Ottoman history.
