Michael Kahn is an American film editor and director, born on December 8, 1935, in New York City. He studied at New York University where he developed his passion for film editing. Kahn has a long-standing collaboration with acclaimed director Steven Spielberg, starting with the film Close Encounters of the Third Kind in 1977. He has edited all of Spielberg's films since then, including Raiders of the Lost Ark, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Jurassic Park, and Saving Private Ryan, among others. Kahn has won three Academy Awards for Best Film Editing for his work on Raiders of the Lost Ark, Schindler's List, and Saving Private Ryan. In addition to his editing career, Kahn has also directed a few films, such as The Music Box and Mortal Thoughts. He is known for his skillful storytelling and his ability to bring out the emotional depth in his editing work. Kahn's contributions to the film industry have solidified his reputation as one of the most talented and respected editors in Hollywood.
