He honed his skills in minor leagues before joining the Niagara Falls Flyers where he thrived as a top scorer, catching the attention of NHL scouts. In 1970, Robert was selected by the Buffalo Sabres in the NHL Entry Draft. During his 12-year career in the National Hockey League, Robert solidified himself as one of the game's most prolific snipers. Known for his exceptional speed, agility, and accurate shooting, he became a key forward for the Sabres' renowned “French Connection” line alongside Gilbert Perreault and Richard Martin. Together, they showcased a blend of remarkable skill and strategic play that mesmerized spectators and opponents alike. Throughout his tenure with the Sabres from 1970 to 1979, Robert consistently impressed with his offensive prowess, netting more than 30 goals in five consecutive seasons. His electrifying playing style captivated fans and earned him numerous accolades, including being named an NHL All-Star in 1974 and 1975. Sadly, his life was cut tragically short on June 22, 2021, when he passed away at the age of 72 due to complications from a heart attack suffered several days prior.
